Baker & McKenzie Advises Rohm and Haas on its Vietnam Plant
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, 12 June 2008 – Baker & McKenzie’s corporate team in Vietnam recently advised Rohm and Haas on the planned construction of a US$10 million acrylic emulsion facility in Nhon Trach city, within the Dong Nai province of Vietnam. The plant will be completed by the end of 2008 and will join a network of 11 plants across the Asia-Pacific region, part of a system of more than 30 plants worldwide.
The plant will be built in order to meet demand for paint and coating products in the Vietnam market, which is projected to grow at 15 percent per year for the next 10 years. It will feature state-of-the-art manufacturing technology, with the ability to expand capacity as needed. Founded in 1909, Rohm and Haas is a global pioneer in the creation and development of technologies and solutions for the specialty materials industry. Rohm and Haas generated annual sales of approximately $8.9 billion in 2007.
The Baker & McKenzie team was led by Ho Chi Minh City based partners, Fred Burke and Seck Yee Chung. “This transaction showcases the strength and breadth of Baker & McKenzie’s corporate, commercial and direct investment capabilities. We are delighted to be assisting Rohm and Haas on this significant investment in Vietnam, which will not only support the growing demands and needs of its customers, but will also meet its long-term growth plans in the region,” said Fred Burke.
