Baker & McKenzie was named “Best Law Firm for Women” for 2007 by Working Mother magazine in its first-of-its-kind initiative honoring trailblazers in work-life balance. The Firm was selected for its high ranking in various categories, including flexibility, workforce profile, benefits and compensation, parental leave and related benefits and policies, and retention and advancement of women.

In June 2006, for the sixth consecutive year, Baker & McKenzie was selected as one of the top 20 corporate law firms in America, ranking 11th, according to a survey of more than 1,200 directors of publicly traded companies conducted by Corporate Board Member magazine. Also, the Firm was in the top 20 in a separate General Counsel survey for the sixth year running.

Baker & McKenzie ranked as a "Power Player" in BTI Consulting Group’s analysis (September 2005) of interviews with Fortune 1000 in-house counsel about their relationships with outside law firms. The analysis is based on the number of primary relationships law firms have with clients, whether firms are regarded as a "go to" firm, how enthusiastically clients recommend them, and the level of client satisfaction. Thirty-five firms, including Baker & McKenzie, were named BTI Power Players.

Several of Baker & McKenzie’s lawyers were selected to be included in the 2006 edition of The Best Lawyers in America based on a peer-review survey of 18,500 US lawyers. Nearly 50 lawyers were named in total, representing almost every major practice group and US office of the Firm. Three lawyers were also named in the inaugural edition (June 2006) of The Best Lawyers in Canada.

Baker & McKenzie also was recognized in a number of areas in the 2006 edition of Chambers Global. Baker & McKenzie was named as a leading firm in 38 different countries/regions for a wide variety of practices, as well as in six global practice areas. In the United States, the Firm was recognized for Corporate/M&A, International Tax and TMT: Outsourcing, as well as a top tier ranking in Tax: Corporate.
- Several regional practice areas ranked highly in the first edition of the Legal 500: USA, one of the newest directories in the United States. In the first volume – Corporate and Finance (October 2006), the Firm was listed in seven categories, including a top-tier ranking in the category of M&A: International Deals US$1 billion - US$5 billion. Other areas included Asset Finance & Leasing; Global offerings: Advice to Corporates; Global Offerings: Advice to Financial Institutions; Credit and Syndicated Transactions; Project Finance: Lender; and Securitization and Derivatives. The ranking recognizes the Firm's "unparalleled geographic spread and practice area diversity." PLC is the London-based publisher of Cross-Border Quarterly (formerly Global Counsel magazine).

Several Baker & McKenzie practitioners were recently named in the International Tax Review "World Tax 2006" guide, which lists leading tax firms and practitioners around the world based on a survey of corporate tax directors and managers and tax practitioners. In North America, Baker & McKenzie was recognized as a leading firm in Chicago, Houston, New York, San Francisco/Palo Alto, and Washington, DC. Globally, the Firm was ranked in 24 countries (four more than in 2004), with 38 lawyers named as "leading individuals."
